BOOK SIGNING - Author, John Spencer,
will be here on
July 18 over noon hr (11 - 1), to sign copies of his
latest novel: "Round Prairie Inferno: Surge #1". Story
takes place in central Illinois in 1858. It recounts
through one man's journey the story of a struggling
nation experiencing profound and fundamental
change...about abolitionists, slaves, murder and "all
manner of drama". A sequel: "...Surge #2", is planned
for release this August, 2015. John lives and works
along the picturesque Sangamon River in the heart of
Illinois. He earned a BA in Art from the Univ. of
Illinois, is a U.S. Navy veteran of Desert Storm and
recipient of both the Naut Tahrir al-Kuwait and National
Defense medals, but it was in his role as assistant to
the Historic Sites Director at an Illinois prairie
preserve that his interest in antebellum Illinois was
piqued. Months spent conducting research for the
preserve led to a desire to relate the story of two of
the West's most unsung heroes; the reluctant
abolitionist and the fiery New England puritan, both of
whom were formidable forces with which to contend on the
burgeoning frontier.

occasional sabre tooth tiger roamed, to the
1800’s during Abraham Lincoln’s life, when not
only wolves but an occasional timber rattlers
could visit. The final era is now and what
still remains and may in fact be returning
to the wilds of Logan County.
Dr.
Campbell, who has taught at Lincoln College for
twenty-two years offering courses in both life
and earth sciences, holds bachelor and master
degrees from Texas Tech University and a
doctorate in zoology from the University of New
